On my way to Illinois, I stopped in St. Louis to see the Gateway Arch. I went up to the top of of The Arch and got to see a cool view of the St. Louis area. To get to there you had to sit in a trolley car and take it up to the top.
Decatur-Forsyth Classic Presented by Tate & Lyle and Decatur Park District in Decatur, Illinois
Practice on Wednesday with Jayde Panos and Marissa Dodd, a college teammate. (I’m in the yellow top.)
The course at Hickory Point was in great shape and it was really flat. The weather was good, except on the first day when we were fighting to finish before a band of storms.
While on tour this week, my mom noticed my first endorsement printed in the McConnell magazine.
PHC Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Since Tiger Woods was at his height of his career when I was playing junior golf, it was interesting to be playing at this course where Tiger started his professional career.
Symetra Tour posted a video showing a few of us warming up before Day One of the PHC Classic. Here’s a video clip of my iron-shot practice (just before play was suspended for a two hour storm delay).
The course at Brown Deer was really nice. There were a couple reachable par fives and I felt like the course set up well to my game. I went into the first day with a great mental attitude and did not let the rain delay get to me. The second day was very tough because I had to wait until 5 to tee off, then we had to keep playing until 8 pm, but, only finished ten holes of round two. We were back at it early Sunday morning for a 7:30 tee time to finish the second round. Then, a wait to learn my afternoon tee time for the third round and another full 18 holes. By that point, I was pretty exhausted because I didn’t get much sleep the night before. It was a great learning experience though.
The clouds were with us most of this weekend, postponing and suspending play frequently. However, Sunday was a better weather day and allowed us to get one and a third days of play completed that day.
At the end of our first day of play (with Alexandra Casi).
I’ve been looking forward to this coming break for months … read my next blog (Sept. preview) to find out why …
