WOW, my rookie season on Symetra Tour is finished! Even though I have many areas I’m working on, I am pleased with everything I’ve learned and with what I was able to accomplish this year. As always, I am thankful for the backing of my sponsors, the hospitality of the host families, the camaraderie of fellow players, and the support and enthusiasm of my family and friends.
Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout in El Dorado, Arkansas
I felt good as I traveled to Arkansas and I was happy with my play at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado. The course was very challenging with undulated greens. It was a ball-strikers course with many collection areas around the greens. I had a good game plan going into the first day and executed well all three days.
The locals told us that we were experiencing unusually nice weather for this time of the year and it was truly a gorgeous week weather-wise. Murphy USA employees came out in force and with warm hospitality.
Hurricane Matthew
After El Dorado, I headed to Orlando/Longwood, Florida, but, because of Hurricane Matthew the tournament was cancelled on Wednesday and I decided to go home and practice there. While at home, we watched as Hurricane Matthew bore down on the coastline and we weren’t sure if we would be able to play our Tour Championship in Daytona Beach the following week. We were relieved and thankful when the generous people of Longwood, Alaqua Country Club, and IOA (Insurance Office of America) offered to host the Championship. They made this a great final event.
2016 Symetra Tour Championship moved to Alaqua Country Club in Longwood, Florida
The Symetra staff and the people of Longwood worked hard to prepare the course for this week.
The course was a shot maker’s course with flat greens. There were a lot of doglegs with trouble on both sides of the course. I was happy with my play there, and I was looking to use this week to prepare for next week’s Q-School.
LPGA Qualifying School-Stage II at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice Florida
My Dad was able to come down and caddy for me at Stage II of Q-School. I think this really helped because I am familiar with him on the bag.
This week also reunited me with some of my Wake teammates.
I had a conservative plan for how to play the course because in Stage 2 you are just trying to get into the top 80. I played very consistently all week and ending up coming in tied for 8th. I am very happy with my performance and am looking forward to Stage III in Daytona the week after Thanksgiving.
